D. Garment Production
Incoming Fabric and Trim Inspection
Fabric
Fabric suppliers are held accountable for testing and shipping consistent quality to our vendors. All should
have performed previous test as requested to insure only first quality fabric as order will be shipped to
sewing factories.
At the minimum:
Komar requires that all garment contractors to inspect all fabric that is received which is to be used for
production using recommended 4 point system. It is the garment factory responsibility to inspect 20% of all
incoming piece goods shipment using the same criteria as listed in fabric mill inspection methods. If the
initial 20% inspection fails, then garment contractor is required to perform additional 20% of the fabric. If
this 2 nd inspection fails, the contractor must perform 100% inspection.
If the fabric does not pass 100% inspection and cannot be used for production, the fabric must be returned
to fabric mill for replacement.
Create shade bands of lots by roll to ensure conformity
The inspection of each lot of fabric received must be inspected versus the standard:
Color must be checked against the Standard and in a light box
Compare Hand feel versus the standard.
Compare fabric finishing to standard.
Obvious defects
Fabric inspection reports need to be submitted to Komar QC or Komar representative for approval on
request.
Trim
Trim suppliers are held accountable for testing and shipping consistent quality to our vendors. The trim
suppliers must conduct applicable tests for each lot produced.
Komar requires that all garment contractors to inspect all components that are to be used on or applied to a
garment. This includes all trims, buttons, hook & eyes, elastics, laces, labels, hangtags, price tickets, etc.
Each component must be checked by lot/color and documented. The documentation must include the
Supplier Name, date received, quantity received, lot number, and at least one sample of each lot by color
must be kept for future reference. This documentation must be available at any time for Komar QA or
Komar Representative.
The inspection of each lot of components must be inspected versus the standard:
Color must be checked against the Standard and in a light box.
** May require grouping of shades in order to maintain garment color integrity in a
production run. Factory must maintain control.
Compare Hand feel versus the standard.
Sizes must be verified against the standard and take into account the allowable tolerances.
Obvious defects
At a minimum 20% of every lot should be inspected or an AQL of 0.65 Level II single sampling may be used
as well for some components.
If the initial 20% has a failure of 2.5% or greater then reject and go to 100% sort.
** Zero tolerance would include wrong Price or UPC information on the Hangtags.
If using a 0.65 AQL, they would follow the AQL criteria based on the Sample Size.
