Social and Environmental Compliance
Komar has a long-standing history of exceptional moral standards, both in the inner workings of our
company, as well as in our actions furthering environmental and social practices. Komar stands
firm to ensure that all employees are working in a safe environment and removed from harm’s
way. We encourage Vendor management to stay up-to-date on the following best practices:
Vendor operates in full legal and ethical compliance with current regulations
Vendor conducts annual training to its employees
Vendor stays up-to-date on retailer requirements
Corrective and disciplinary action for unlawful conduct is taken immediately
Labor Standards
Komar Brands has conducted thorough research in compiling a guideline for our Vendors in meeting local
and international governed labor requirements. These guidelines are to be followed in addition to those of
the state in the country the goods are being manufactured. These requirements will better prepare our
vendors to meet the criteria of any retailer requested audits that may be conducted.
No Child Labor: Vendors will not use child labor under any condition. Country must observe all legal
requirements for the employment of minors, particularly those pertaining to hours of works, wages
minimum education and working conditions.
No Forced or Prison Labor: All labor is voluntary. Komar will remove itself from any vendor that implements
any form of mental or physical coercion. All forms of prison, forced labor, indentured labor, and bonded
labor are prohibited in addition to subcontracting arrangement with prisons.
No Harassment or Coercion: Vendors will treat each employee with dignity and respect, and will not use
corporal punishment, threats of violence or other forms of physical, sexual, psychological or verbal
harassment, intimidation or abuse. Vendors should respect the right for employees to observe tenets or
practices pertaining to their religion, gender, union membership or any other condition that can bring about
discrimination.
Freedom of Association: Vendors must honor and make workers aware of their rights to lawfully and
peacefully bargain collectively or partake in trade unions. They will not be subject to discrimination,
punishment, threats, fines or termination of employment in respect to their affiliation or membership with
trade unions.
Nondiscrimination : Komar believes that workers should be employed on the basis of their ability and
qualification to do the job, and not on the basis of characteristics or cultural beliefs. Vendors will not under
any circumstance unlawfully discriminate with regard to hiring and employment practices on the basis of
race, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, political opinion or
disability.
Wages and Benefits: Vendors must compensate all workers with wages, overtime, and benefits that meet
or exceed local law, local industry standards, or collective agreements, whichever are higher.
Hours of Work/Overtime: Vendors will maintain reasonable employee work hours in compliance with
local and national law. Vendors must provide workers with rest days and must ensure the working hours are
consistent with local law and not excessive. Employees should be permitted to at least one (1) day off in
every seven (7) day period, or the rest period required by applicable law if greater than one (1) day a week
